On September 8, 1930 a man who would become famous for his mile high sandwiches was created. Now, 84 years later, we still refer to a large sandwich as a Dagwood.
On February 17, 1933, Dagwood married Blondie Boopaloop and 80 years later they are still madly in love. Wow! In this day and age not too many couples make it past their 8th wedding anniversary (where by the way pottery is the traditional gift), never mind to their 80th wedding anniversary. In fact, after the 50th anniversary the “recommended”gift list stops changing. Just keep bringing on the diamonds. Anyway, Blondie and Dagwood were obviously a match made in heaven (or in the imagination of Chic Young. Either way).
